Buildergroop is the community for Gen-Z coders, designers, and entrepreneurs. If you're young, ambitious, and wanting to build something awesome we're the people for you.

A hackathon is where a group of (or one) developer(s) build an awesome piece of software revolving around a particular theme via specific programming languages and technologies. The purpose of a hackathon is to "hack together" something in a given time frame. It need not be a fully functional product, however, it should be able to demonstrate your idea well enough in the most simple possible manner.

You must join our discord server and click the button that says "Get Notifications" (which can be found here ) in order to participate in the hackathon and recieve vital communication during the hackathon.

The theme for this hackathon is to create a live application using Hop's services. If you decide to register for the hackathon, you'll be able to onboard yourself to Hop free of charge and use it to help build your project. This is the only pre-requisite.

P.S Hop is currently in Private Beta, but they've generated an invite code for participants to use. Head over to console.hop.io and use the invite code "builderhacks".

The hackathon will be hosted during the weekend of September 2nd - 4th. BuilderHacks starts at 12:30PM EST on the 2nd and will go on for 46 hours.

To ensure we can distribute awesome prizes for all the winners in a team, we are limiting team sizes to a maximum of 2 individuals.

We conduct three "audits" for each team. These are how we evaluate your progress throughout the hackathon and in-turn pick out 10 finalists at the end. For each audit, you (and your teammate) hop into a voice channel with someone from the staff and answer a few questions + demo what you've built so far :). More information will be shared regarding audits in the Buildergroop Discord Server..

We understand that some participants will be outside of the US or working in teams. All prizes will be sent in cash to avoid international shipping costs or limiting your prize choices. The cash prizes will be the same as listed on retail websites in the USA.

Absolutely! Whether you're just starting out, or have tons of experience in the field, we're more than happy to welcome you here. We'll be hosting workshops during the course of the hackathon that will introduce you to fundamental programming concepts and teach you about cool new technologies that you might want to implement in your hack 👀. Additionally, you can also chat with our large community of young programmers and get help with your pressing queries during the hackathon.
